The words in the title of this post probably won’t serve me as well as they did Roger Miller, singer, songwriter, and real-life Huckleberry Finn, but they do express the right sentiment.
Over the past 7 months, my wife and I have downsized to a townhouse half the size of our big home of 31 years, during which time we gave away half of our earthly possessions, I injured and healed 3 discs in my back, spent 4 months rehabbing it, finishing my rehab in Maui with a two-week celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary Next, I completed the writing of, released and tried to market, the third and final book of the Against All Enemies series, Chasing Freedom, while serving several weeks on jury duty. To top it all off … it was a hung jury!
All in all, there was enough drama and pain to last us for at least a decade. And that’s why I haven’t written lately. But I did want to write and let everyone know that all 3 books in the series are available in print and electronic formats through Amazon and as printed books through Barnes & Noble.
If you haven’t read book 1, Voice in the Wilderness, I still have several ARCs (advance review copies) available to give away. Don’t be shy. Click through to my web site and use the contact form at the bottom of any of my web site’s pages and tell me you want to read a first-class, clean thriller with a romance thread that will warm your heart and have you rooting for two young people who have the future of America riding on their shoulders. How could I refuse after reading those kind words? You can enter your email address without fear of it being divulged. It’s only visible to me and I’ll only use it to contact you about sending a copy of Voice in the Wilderness to you.
So what’s next next for H L Wegley? I’m polishing up an epic espionage thriller that I plan to submit to an agent for traditional publication. It’s a modern-day spy story but with roots that go back into the Cold War. It has a lot of action, suspense and a developing romance.
I also have a completed short novel, a high-action romantic suspense, that I will probably self-publish. It’s a story about a returning prodigal guy and a persecuted Christian girl that find themselves the target of an assassin who came from the “far country” to track down the prodigal.
Finally, I’m starting the plot for a new thriller that deals with a problem that I believe will soon become pandemic to American and other societies. That’s all I can say about it for now. It’s classified Top Secret.
That’s about it for now. Please, don’t forget to ask for one of my extra ARCs of Voice in the Wilderness. Just click here and ask for a copy, using the contact form at the bottom of the page. And, if you have somehow seen this newsletter but aren’t signed up for it, here’s a link where you can subscribe to my newsletter to follow my writing and be informed of sales/giveaways/etc.: Suscribe.

I am now on book 3 in the Against All Enemies series. I just happened to pick the first from my Kindle store and I’m hooked!! This country is now in Serious trouble. You “hit the nail on the head” Before things even got this bad . Our Faith, Families and Freedoms will soon be gone unless we fight for them. I look forward to reading more
God Bless!!
Thanks so much, Michelle. I am currently writing book 3 of a similar series, the Riven Republic Series. It’s about Civil War in America—how I think it might play out, a fragmentation along geopolitical boundaries and de facto secession rather than states formally seceding from the Union. The three books feature characters from my previous stories, including Against All Enemies. The 3 books are Riven, Resisting and book 3, which I’m working on, Restored. If you want to spend some more time with Brock, KC, Julia Steve, Captain Craig, and others, you’ll enjoy this series too.
Take care in these uncertain times and God bless you too.
